Match Reports

Flamborough under 8 v Heslerton Under 8

Heslerton Under 8’s started their first ever league game at Flamborough with passion.  The young footballers all displayed a fantastic team effort in assisting Brad Spiller to show some fine shooting hitting the Flamborough net on many occasions.  The long goal kicks from keeper Sam Owen had the Flamborough players chasing the ball in their own half.  Twin brother, midfielder, Thomas Owen was on fine form and showed the manager his confidence was flowing today with some fine tackles and was runner up player of the match. Chad Rodgers and William Maud were solid in defence as always. Alex Troop ran tirelessly and displayed some of his fine football runs and turning skills during the game. Charlie Richardson was impressive in his first season and made some excellent tackles.  Dylan Fawcett played well as a newcomer and enjoyed the game. Player of the match was awarded to Brad Spiller for his goal scoring and his team performance.

Heslerton Under 8’s play host to Burlington Jackdaws this Sunday.

Burlington Jackdaws U9’s v Heslerton U9’s

Heslerton U9’s started their league campaign with a tricky away game at Scarborough League newcomers Burlington Jackdaws. Heslerton made the better start with a few neat exchanges in midfield between Ethan Smith and Thomas Stockdale, the latter hitting a thunderous goal-bound shot, only to hit a Burlington defender full on in the chest. Burlington hit Heslerton on the counter attack and in the fourth minute a tame shot somehow deceived Flinton in goal and trickled over the line to make it 1-0. Heslerton continued to battle away and the defensive  trio of Towse, Buckle and Clarke were continually kept busy as Burlington continued to attack. It wasn’t long before Burlington added a second this time Flinton having no chance with a well taken goal. Burlington added a third just before half time with a well executed lob from 20yards. The second half saw Heslerton pinned in their own half and further goals should have been added had it not been for Rowan Towse and Nathan Clarke making timely interceptions. However two more powerful long shots evaded the fingers of Flinton in goal to make the final score 5-0. Man of the match for Heslerton went to Nathan Clarke who never gave up and made some excellent tackles throughout the match. Heslerton entertain Hunmanby Juniors this week with a 10.00 kick off.

Under 15  Heslerton 4 v Cayton  2

Heslerton started the better side and in the fourth minute Stephen Edwards scored lobbing the keeper from outside the area.  Heslerton’s second goal came from Ollie Varey with a fine header from a fine Aidan Horton corner.  The home side kept pushing forward with Buckle and Peel coming close to scoring. In the twentieth minute goalkeeper Lewis Smith made a fine stretching save to deny the Cayton side.  After thirty six minutes Cayton were awarded a penalty which taken well hitting the back of the net.  2-1.

The second half saw Conor Buckle one on one with the Cayton keeper allowing him to secure an impressive goal making the score 3-1.  Cayton came back with a fantastic free kick which hit the top right corner of the Heslerton net. 3-2.  Buckle replied with another fine strike making the score 4-2.  The team performance was outstanding, but midfielder Thomas Peel earned himself man of the match.
